"Badman" in Jamaican culture refers to a man who is seen as tough, fearless, and not to be disrespected. Originally tied to street credibility and sometimes associated with gang culture or violence, the term has evolved and can also describe someone who’s just confident, respected, and carries a certain swagger. It's often used in dancehall music to portray a no-nonsense persona and depending on the tone, it can be taken seriously or used playfully to hype someone up.
