In this lesson we will be discussing the different ways of giving directions in Jamaican patois.

1. “Roun deh suh „

   English Translation: Around there

   Example Sentences (Patois) Mi think mi leff mi fone roun deh suh
   (English) I think I left my phone around there

2. “Ova deh suh „

   English Translation: Over there

   Example Sentences (Patois) Raheem did a luk fi yuh, him deh ova deh suh
   (English) Raheem was looking for you, he’s over there









3. “Unda deh suh „

   English Translation: Under there

   Example Sentences (Patois) Him deh hide unda deh suh as if him think mi cyaah si him
   (English) He’s hiding under there as if he thinks I cannot see him.

4. “Si it ova deh suh „

   English Translation: It is over there

   Example Sentences (Patois) ) If a di key yuh a luk fah, si it ova deh suh
   (English) If it’s the key you are looking for, it is over there

5. “Roun di kaanah „

   English Translation: Around the corner

   Example Sentences (Patois) Di squaddie deh roun di kaanah, yuh hav nutten pan yuh
   (English) The police is around the corner, do you have anything on you.

6. “Dung di road „

   English Translation: Down by the road

   Example Sentences (Patois) Mi a guh dung di road, mi sue cum bak
   (English) I’m going down by the road, I’ll be back soon

7. “Seet deh „

   English Translation: There it is

   Example Sentences (Patois) It nuh deh round deh suh, seet deh
   (English) It’s not around there, there it is
